Why RoVR

At RoVR, we’re on a mission to turn practices into AI-Native, Self-Optimizing Learning Health Clinics. At RoVR, we are building a multimodal, agentic operating system to launch, manage, and scale A-LHCs nationwide. We collaborate with large health organizations as well as local physician groups, modernizing legacy operations to launch these next-generation clinics.

Central to this vision are at RoVR, autonomous agents that orchestrate and optimize clinical, administrative, and patient engagement processes. By alleviating repetitive tasks, RoVRs free providers and admins to focus on proactive decision-making guided by actionable insights, laying the groundwork for a more responsive, outcome-driven healthcare ecosystem.

By uniting clinical and operational intelligence in one cohesive platform, we're building the infrastructure for a Learning Health System that can collaborate with and empower clinicians to redefine the patient experience and transform health outcomes.

Based in the heart of NYC and backed by leading venture capital firms/visionary healthcare leaders, RoVR is on a mission to transform the future of healthcare. We are seeking mission-driven engineers, designers, and operators to join our team and help us build the foundational operating system that will drive medicine for the next century.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer on Agents, you will build the systems that make RoVR's agents indispensable to clinics. Our agents read faxes and medical records, answer questions with citations back to the source, coordinate referrals and authorizations, and act across EHRs, phones, and payer systems.

You will design environments and actions for agentic healthcare work, make model selection decisions, manage context windows, build the right tools, and develop evals that let us iterate fast and unlock new capabilities. We are hiring for this role across Senior and Staff levels.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with clinicians, customers, and PMs to understand clinic workflows, design evals that capture what "excellent" means, and ship agents that get the job done.

  • Optimize agent performance through prompt engineering, model selection, tool design, context management, and eval harness development.

  • Build multimodal pipelines for documents, images, and audio: OCR, classification, patient matching, record abstraction, and hybrid retrieval.

  • Design infrastructure for low-latency agent execution, including caching, parallel tool calls, and subagent patterns.

  • Improve observability to profile agent behavior and find bottlenecks, while keeping PHI redacted.

  • Stay current on agentic systems and bring what works back into the product.

What You Have

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.

  • Strong Python, including async, and experience with LLM APIs and agent frameworks.

  • Comfortable using evals to drive quality.

  • Iterative mindset: you build proof of concepts, decide quickly, and ship v0s.

  • Humble and adaptable about code and frameworks; you drive adoption of new best practices as they emerge.

  • Experience shipping user-facing products on the backend or full stack.

  • Nice to have: document AI (OCR, embeddings, retrieval), or healthcare data (EHRs, HL7/FHIR).
